This profession is equal for both

Profession is certainly not becoz of gender bases. We cant predict that which is a apt profession to anybody in the world. Before marketing is only based on that particular region or domain.After globalization , now our competitors are their in various countries not in our state or country. Similarly sales is a profession which needs lots of potential and stuff. We cant say or predict woman doesnt have that.

Its time India scales to new heights in non-discriminatory action plans and eliminates gender based attributions in employment practices. Women are equally qualified not only in performance but also in leading, strategic planning and decision making capabilities when it comes to Sales & Marketing.

Success doesn't see the gender of the person. It is only attitude and capability to handle the situation. It doesn't matter how beautiful he or she. We can site an example of sales of sanitary napkins outside the railway station by a lady who became head of the orgnisation within a short span of time.

Yes very much....... sales jopb requires a prospect interpreting abilities and clear objective of purpose.... and woman can really do it better iether... its not any puscle exercise......

What Sales mean to-day? selling a comb to bald person. In simple word we define it making some one donkey. This type work woman can do very easily. T

I have had the opportunity to work with many ladies in Sales.Their grace one one side and aggression on the other linked to the buyers being men most times has proved them to be winners.Hence why should a woman  not do what she is good at enjoys it as well

Be a woman or a man, profession is good for who do it religiously. One has to put his/her heart and soul to get success. Nothing depends on the gender.

It is the core competecy, confidence, creativity, courage, course, certification, commitment and many more"C's" which decides what is good and what is not. It is not about Male or Female, it is all about execution of the given Job.

Sales profession is perfectly alright for women as much as it is for men. If they have the fire in them for sales, they are unstoppable.  There are several mind blockers which stop potential women fro entering into this field.

I remember when one small girl walked into my office with her dad for the interview.  My first mindset was to reject the candidate outright.  However since I had to recruit a target number of candidates and this candidate qualified to basic acceptable levels, I recruited her and put her on training.  Every day I used to counsel her for some time, train her on some strategies, give her some demonstrations and case studies.  Within a short span of 3 months, she was the best performer, not only for my centre, but the whole district.  She was promoted directly 3 levels higher at the first appraisal from ISR to JRM.(Protocol for growth was ISR, TISE, ISE, JRM)

This had been a great lesson for me, never underestimate any one on their looks.  Try to find out their true potential.

Now a days women are actually doing well in sales profession and actually they are able to crack many deals than men....

It depends on Individual Skills, Talent, approach, communications, way of presenting themselves and organization, personality etc .... and never on gender........

Any profession in the world is not gender driven...it is driven by set of competencies and capabilities a person has to execute it. While there are many cases of failure experienced by men, there are equally high number of examples for successful sales women!!

Today there are many companies which are lead by women very impressively...

choice of particular profession is up to the skill and interest of the individual  , there is no such botheration for any specific task/ job like marketing and sales for man and other for girls..

I would address the question by reversing it. Are women right for sales profession? Women excel in many sales related jobs, primarily because of the feminine specialties that are ideal for capitalizing the available opportunities. The personality characteristics of women like nobleness,  nurturing, comforting, ability to heal, communicate and bond with others well, able to work better in a group setting, empathetic, compassionate, gentle, patient etc help them to work well in a sales job, as opposing to masculine attributes like toughness, aggressiveness, heroism etc. (It does not mean that men are unsuitable) But note that not all females and males are similar and cannot be stereotyped. When these are perceived behavioral norms, there are many other factors that prevent women from taking up a sales job like the family make-up, limitations in timing, traveling, etc which generally do not affect a male.

Absolutely Yes. Sales profession can be right for women professionals, especially in the case of items where the customer is a woman or child. In fact, men would be less suited to selling products like diapers and ladies personal products.

Why not? Women are competing men today in every field. So, why not in sales ? Moreover I have seen, in many cases, women being more successful in selling many products which normally we men face a lot of problem to sell.Thus we can say there is nothing wrong of women being working in sales job.

What has sales got to do with either being men or women?  A sales person is deemed good if he / she can sell.  Rest should not matter at all.

Dikshitji, I understood wht you mean to say, but this is not the case with every individaul. you replied using SIMPLE ENUMERATION technique, which is not true. All invidviduals are not same and thn sales are of various types. In India too Study shows that ppl purchase becuase of the products brand...etc and when it comes to saleswomen aspect, it is her, communication skills, how does she carries herself, her attitude etc.

So whatever is true for a salesman, it is more or less true for saleswomen too. And all other things are misconceptions, which never given a second thought.

In my opinion women today are ready to take up any challenges that may come up and can fit in any profession perfectly... be it sales or any other field!!

Yes, Sales is also a right profession for women. When I read this question, what came to my mind is, the person who raised this question, might be thinking, if a person can give time to her family, if she also involves in Sales. But this depend on the managerial skills of that women, the type of sales..etc.

Sales is of varied nature. so it depends on the nature of sales.

In a society where education is more accessible than ever before it all depends on the woman herself and what gives her that supreme sense of achievement that she is seeking. In many ways, she is limited only by her dreams and determination. The times have changed and society is full of smart, hard working women who now frequent the jobs that were for many years dominated by males. Careers such as law enforcement, fire fighting, astronaut, attorney and politics are just a few examples and thus sales profession is no exception. It all depends on her goals in life.
